God makes rivers to flow. They tire not, nor do they cease from flowing. May the river of my life flow into the Sea of Love that is The Lord.

May I overcome all the impediments in my course. May the thread of my song be not cut before my life merges in the Sea of Love.

Guard me against all danger, O Lord. Accept me graciously, O King of Kings.

Release me from my sorrows, which hold me as ropes hold a calf. I cannot even open my eyes without the power of Your Love.

Guard us against the grief that haunts the life of the selfish. Lead us from darkness into Light.

We will sing of your Love as it was sung of old. Your laws change not, but stand like mountains.

Forgive me all the mistakes I have committed. Many mornings will dawn upon us again. Guide us through them all, O Lord of Love.

Prayers from The Rigvedas (The Holy Scripture of Hinduism)

Grief is not only for the selfish .
Grief could also be a gift .

Hands ,eyes towards light ......

With due respect to the holy books of all relegions ,
I think a slight amount of critical , analytical thinking would add to the contextual meaningfulness of them thus avoiding the misinterpretation of them .
The context is important .
It is perhaps also important not to use it conveniently .

Few safegaurds would probably go a long way in really going towards light without making it dark for any holy scripture .

Regards ,

My Dear Akash,
I respect your views and thoughts and i too feel that most of our religious texts and scriptures have been misinterpreted and the Real meaning seems to have got lost...You are right, the original context is important..which is going to take us closer to His Light..
Nowadays, my heart cries to see so much of violence and bloodshed in the name of God and religion, trying to prove superiority of one's religion over another..
We all seem to have forgotten to take into consideration the Essence of all our respective religions which preach only Love,
Brotherhood,
Surrender to the Divine Will,
Peace ( to mention a few)
Also Akash, my personal interpretation of this line-
Guard us against the grief that haunts the life of the selfish seems to have a reflection of what Spirituality always talks about...rising above the desires and demands of the Ego which limit the shining Self and hinder our Path to Him..
I perceive the selfish as the ones who have forgotten their true nature and regard Materialism as their only pursuit in life, who have committed endless sins to acquire worldly pleasures and have forgotten the mercies and blessings of the One who created him..
and they are the ones who are haunted by grief and blinded in veils when life no more seems to satisfy their insatiable selfish desires.
Please be free to share your thoughts and opinions Akash, i really value them.
Take care my dear.God Bless you :) Looking forward to hearing from you!
