Thoughts from my Spiritual Diary-9

Just last night when i stood looking outside my window, staring at the lonely roads, feeling the cool breeze across my face, devouring the sight of the ever splendid Moon, my thoughts turned within..

Trying to strike up a conversation with My Beloved God and as i looked up with eyes that showed yearning..I became speechless..i guess He always knew and He would always know what i need rather than what i desire :)) We spoke to each other through the language of the heart, He always responds to it the fastest...!
Also i know that in the secret, dark confines of my heart as i listened to the sound of silence, He visits me. i just felt like telling Him these words..

Dearest God,

Love is the fire that Burns me, the passion that has destroyed me..My soul's deepest love for You frees me from my self, and yet this freedom seems like death as i die to the person who i think i am...a million number of times...i so dearly yearn for You..:)
Bless me with your devotion and bless all those who desire you and show them your Light.

Your impatient, impulsive and gullible daughter;)

The ultimate Salvation

Glorious Lord,
Giver of nourishing food,
Bless us with a happy life, peace and prosperity.

May the Divine Architect
With His evermoving Cosmic Chariot,
Continue giving wealth, wisdom and purity of heart and soul.
In the realization of Spiritual Bliss,
The human soul is released from the bondage
Of the physical sphere and rises above Celestial Realm.

May we, with honest efforts
And no consciousness of guilt,
Ascend day by day, higher and higher summits
Of eternal glory and bliss.

Remember, when God's earnest seeker
Pursues the ultimate salvation
He ascends from one summit to a higher one.
The Lord firmly supprts him
At every step forward.
God's loving care and guidance
Enlightens his path
He is bestowed with His Divine blessings.

Waking Up

It is said that when The Compassionate Buddha entered a town, he radiated such security and joy that crowds gathered around him just to gaze at his blissful face.
" Blessed One," they asked timidly, "are you God?"
" No, " he said.
" Are you an Angel? "
" No".
" Are you a Prophet? "
" No. "
" Then who are you? "

"I Am Awake. " he said.

This is the literal meaning of the word "Buddha", from the sanskrit root budh, " To Wake Up".
We all usually think we are fully conscious, fully awake. We all are quite certain that all our friends, aquaintances and near and dear ones too are awake.
We think we are fully active in what we normally call Living life: pursuing private satisfactions, trying to earn a living through respective careers, living out the dailyroutine, accumulating material possesions, trying to live in harmony and peace and playing our own parts in our relationships.

Such a life, The Buddha would say with compassion, is the life of a Somnambulist. We are sleep-walking and sleep living every single moment of our lives.
Today if we look around we can see that we live in a sleeping society- asleep and dreaming of wealth and pleasure and power even as the environmental foundations of our lives are being eroded by the unconscious forces of greed, ignorance, hostility and conditional love in all our relationships.
Its high time we wake up fully from our deep slumber of these vices and learn to give to life and our relationships rather than be ever ready to be at the receiving ends always.
Lets be " Awake ".

"For the sake of it, you journey to sacred shrines and holy rivers: but this priceless jewel is within your own heart"

-The Holy Guru Granth Sahib

The Enemies of Love

“ What I needed most was to love and be loved. I rushed headlong into love, eager to be caught. Happily I wrapped those painful bonds around me; and sure enough, I would be lashed with the red-hot pokers of jealousy, by suspicions and fear, by bursts of anger and quarrels.”

-Saint Augustine

Even in the most intimate of personal relationships, most of us still live inside our own private mental worlds. Our attention is often preoccupied – sometimes more in the past and future than the present – so that we have very little attention to give to those we want to love. Despite our best intentions to draw closer, all kinds of distracting thoughts – likes and dislikes, attachments and aversions, private moods, dreams and desires – come in any time they like, keeping other people at a distance. We yearn for closeness and find, more often, disappointment.

Here Augustine echoes the experiences that almost all of us go through, starting often in our adolescence. The journey into deeper consciousness is one we must take up if ever we are to find the love, the closeness, and the fulfilment we all so earnestly desire.

Divine Love

“ As one experiences Divine Love, attachment to worldly love drops away, and one begins to forget ones lower self.

This does not imply loss of individuality; rather it involves the transcendence of the limitations of individuality, whilst regaining the true status of the Self….

Supreme Divine Love is a complete egoless love of God for the sake of love alone. It implies a realization that God in the core within all creatures and within oneself. Pure love is the unity within the diversity of all creation. This Supreme Love expresses itself in the form of unselfish service to God through His creatures in the spirit of worship…

Once realized, having transcended the ego, a spontaneous detachment occurs. There exists only the desire to Love God through service to the world as the manifestation of God…

The realized man sees the whole world as His Beloved. He feels the woes of the world as his own. Moved by sympathy for the suffering of creatures he completely forgets himself in active service which is the expression of Divine Love…
True Love has neither a beginning nor an end. Divine Love cannot be confined in anyway. It is limitless, beyond time and space. It is beyond race, caste and religion. It is inclusive and expansive rather than exclusive and narrow…

To open one’s heart in order to discover this Divine gift in its full totality, is the ultimate goal of each human life.”

-The Narad Bhakti Sutras.

Enjoy the World Aright

Desire nothing just for yourself; then the whole world is yours. It multiples joy a millionfold and no one has proclaimed the joy of it more gloriously than the English mystic- Thomas Traherne.
He says,

“ You never enjoy the world aright, till you see how a sand exhibiteth the power and wisdom of God….till every morning you awake in Heaven ; see yourself in your Father’s Palace ; and look upon the skies, the earth, and the air as Celestial Joys.

You never enjoy the world aright, till the Sea floweth in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens, and crowned with the stars: and perceive yourself to be the sole heir of the whole world, and more than so, because men are in it who are sole heirs as well as you….till your spirit filleth the whole world, and the stars are your jewels; ….till you love men so as to desire their happiness, with a thirst equal to the zeal of your own ;

Till you delight in God for being good to all : you never enjoy the world.....!!”

God Coloured Soul

"When through Love the soul goes beyond all working of the intellect and all images in the mind, and is rapt above itself, utterly leaving itself, it flows into God: then is peace and fullness.

It loses itself in the infinite solitude and darkness of the Godhead: but so to lose itself is rather to find itself..

The soul is, as it were, all God-coloured, because its essence is bathed in the essence of GOD..."

-Louis de Blois, a Benedictine Monk who lived in France( 16th century )

Putting Others First

Concentrating on only ourselves builds a wall between us and others. Those who keep their thinking about their needs, their wants, their ideas, their moods, their likes and dislikes are more or less lonely and insecure people.

They are the ones who don’t believe in sacrificing or letting go of personal needs and wants over others happiness….have you seen the satisfaction, joy and the smile that lits up the faces of our family, friends or relatives when we give up on our opinions or the way we usually think, feel or act sometimes (if not always)?
This is what I call Putting others First,a very effective idea to deepen the bond of relationships with our loved ones..try it.
The next time you are tempted to watch your favourite movie on tv, or go out for dinner at your favourite restaurant, impose your opinions, say no to your loved one for shopping just because you are not in mood and tired..stop for a minute and reverse all your actions..!

Let your favourite movie be sacrificed for your wife”s tv program, go out for dinner but not the venue of your choice but for a change to a place you have been saying no to your family or friends, say you want to go shopping with your wife or girlfriend who always say that you never give them the required quality time and yes, most importantly cheer up and get your mood fine tuned for the things others want….its pure magic!!

The expectant result….smiling faces, joyous hearts, improved relationships, more love and respect and a sense of contentment within.. Its so easy in this world to live only for ourself but the real joy of living and the most difficult thing in life is to live for others and seek joy and happiness in their smiles...give them the feeling that they are an indispensable part of your life and they are really loved!!!

Its like throwing a small pebble in the ocean-the ripple affects the entire ocean. Such is the value of a good deed, however small like putting others first :)

Lets be the first ones to spread love and beautiful smiles and brighten up someone's life!!

Finding Him

" All my questions have been answered, not through man but through God. He is, He is.
It is His spirit that talks to you through me. It is His Love that I speak of. Thrill after thrill!
Like gentle zephyrs His Love comes over the soul.
Day and night, week after week, year after year, it goes on increasing- you don’t know where the end is.
And that is what you are seeking, everyone of you.
You think you want human love and prosperity, but behind these it is your Father who is calling you.
If you realize that He is greater than all His gifts, you will find Him. "

- Sri Sri Paramhansa Yogananda,( The Divine Romance)

Welcome 2008 :)

A year full of new hopes, new desires, new fulfilments.

A time to see dreams which were never dreamt, take on paths that were never tread, follow our passions we all yearned for..

A time to brush our sluggish souls into sparkling selves and shine up our lives with His Divine Omnipresence..

A time to wake up from our deep ignorant slumber and bid emptiness of our hearts a permanent good bye..
